In accordance with Portland State University's (PSU) Food Service Agreement, PSU Eats is granted the exclusive right to operate and provide daily and catered food services to the following PSU premises: Smith Memorial Student Union, Ondine, Lincoln, and the
Viking Pavilion. Any events within these premises seeking an exception to PSU Eats exclusivity rights must complete this form at least 15 business days prior to their event. Events occurring outside of these premises must comply with the requirements of the
venue in question and all PSU and Multnomah County food safety policies. The event organizer will be responsible for food safety at the event.
Portland State's biggest concern is the safety of our students, staff and visitors. PSUEats is able to assure food safety and health. Portland State will agree to waive the requirement to use our catering service if all food safety processes can be met and
only in specific situations. Outside catering will be considered for approval in situations in which:
- The food or beverage that is being provided is a 100% in-kind donation from the caterer, restaurant, and/or purveyor. Applicant is required to provide documentation from the donor prior to the event. - or-
- Food is relevant to the cultural and/or religious nature of the event and authentically represents the ethnic/religious food traditions of the organization/s, -or-
- PSU Eats is not able to meet the food preparation requirements when requested a minimum of 15 business days prior to the event date.
You do not need permission to have small potlucks (private meetings with 20 people or fewer where people bring food to share), brown-bags (where everyone brings their own individual food and do not share), or bake sales (high sugar content desserts for sale).
For liability reasons, catering through PSUEats and an external caterer cannot be served at the same event.
